Military high command donates one month’s salary to Ghana Medical Trust Fund

The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces has donated one month’s salary to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, otherwise known as MahamaCare.
The gesture, made at a brief ceremony held at the Jubilee House, underscores the military's commitment to supporting the country’s healthcare system.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu made the announcement on his official Facebook wall following a meeting between the Military High Command and officials at the Presidency.
He praised the military for its show of solidarity, describing the donation as a significant contribution toward strengthening healthcare delivery and expressing confidence that the support would go a long way to benefit medical personnel and the general public.
Speaking at the Presidency, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong said it was heartwarming to know that persons living with chronic diseases will benefit from the fund.
He emphasised their commitment to the cause and assured President John Mahama of the Armed Forces’ full support.
He added that an awareness campaign will be launched within the military to encourage officers, soldiers, and civilian staff to contribute.
President Mahama, in response, expressed deep appreciation to the CDS and his service chiefs for what he called a touching and generous gesture.
He said the contribution from the military leadership is not just symbolic, but rather, it is inspiring.
Urging others to emulate this act and donate to the Mahama Cares Fund to reach more Ghanaians in need
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund was established to support healthcare workers and boost medical infrastructure and services across the country.
