NDC’s Godwin Tameklo slams Vincent Assafuah over claims on President Mahama’s Japan trip

The Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Tameklo, has criticised Tafo MP Vincent Assafuah over remarks suggesting that President John Dramani Mahama had travelled to Japan via a private jet.
Speaking in reaction to Assafuah’s claim, Mr. Tameklo questioned the credibility of the information and described it as misleading.
He pointed out that as of 10 a.m. on the day in question, President Mahama was still attending a thanksgiving service held in honour of victims of the recent helicopter crash.
“This is so basic to avoid embarrassment,” Tameklo said.
“By the logic of Assafuah, President Mahama has a double — one who flew to Japan at 7 a.m. and another who was at the Thanksgiving service.
It is a shame.”
He further advised Mr. Assafuah to strengthen his research and communication team if he hopes to become as effective in opposition as some of his colleagues.
“In opposition, we managed to have some people around us who helped us with research.
That’s how you build credibility,” he noted, adding that politicians must ensure accuracy before making public pronouncements. Mr. Tameklo advised the MP and his team of NPP communicators to conduct their research before coming to the public domain.
