#2024Polls: Naa Koryoo unseats Madam 'Rambo' at Awutu Senya East
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, has achieved a resounding victory in the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region, unseating the incumbent MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Naa Koryoo secured 50,886 votes, surpassing Hawa Koomson’s 46,638, to become the Member of Parliament-elect for the Constituency.
Her triumph marks a significant milestone for the NDC, as Awutu Senya East has been a fiercely contested seat in recent electoral cycles.
Campaigning on a platform of addressing key local issues, Naa Koryoo’s message resonated with voters, paving the way for her decisive win.
“This has been a hard-fought victory for me.
Kasoa is now free and will witness development under my leadership,” Naa Koryoo stated after the announcement.
Her victory is part of broader gains for the NDC in the 2024 general elections, solidifying their influence in Parliament.
Following the results, a jubilant crowd of NDC supporters gathered at the forecourt of the Central East Regional Police Command to celebrate and await the final declaration.
