John Dramani Mahama and an NDC umbrella

Ghana has decided to return President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power.

The nation went to the polls on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

By midmorning on Sunday, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer cum Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat, noting the NDC and former President Mahama had had "decisive victory" in the presidential and parliamentary elections.

On Monday evening, Electoral Commission (EC) Chair Jean Mensa declared Mr Mahama's landslide victory.

She noted, however, results from 9 constituencies were pending due to party supporters beseiging collation centres.
