Alan Kyerematen's M4C proposes 5 collaborative measures to resolve voter roll controversy
The Movement for Change (M4C) and Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) founded and led by Alan Kyerematen, an independent presidential candidate, “have noted with deep concern, reports of compromised data in respect of the current Voters Register that the Electoral Commission (EC) is preparing for the 2024 General Elections”.
This was contained in a statement dated September 23, 2024, and signed by the Elections Planning Coordination Director, Nana Ohene-Ntow, in which the M4C and ARC proposed five “measures in support of securing universal acceptability of the Voters Register”.
The statement said, the proposed measures had become necessary because “the manner and process of remedial action” by the Jean Mensa-led EC had come into “serious public contention”.
The M4C and ARC underlined the “measures” and “process” they offered “mirrors a ‘forensic audit’” which is “being advocated” by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and “a section of the Ghanaian public”.
The statement proposed a timeline “for the exercise is from the 30 September 2024 to the 11 October 2024” to adequately “enable the EC to release a Final Voters Register by the 14 October 2024”.
“Approaching the resolution of the doubts around the Voters Register in such a joint manner, ensures transparency of intent that would settle any lingering issues around the Voters Register, and position the country for a free, fair, transparent, and credible General Elections on December 7, 2024,” the statement said.
