“Armah-Kofi Buah will never disappoint Ghanaians in the fight against galamsey” – John Afful
The Director of Communications at the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (RCOMSDEP), Mr. John Afful, has expressed strong confidence in the commitment of the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, to end illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview with Accra 100.5 FM’s Environmental Protection Correspondent, Samuel Kofi Payitey, Mr. Afful said he was prepared to personally vouch for the Minister’s dedication, citing his passion, determination, and consistency in addressing the menace.
“I can put my neck or head on the table, even my life, for Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah’s commitment to the fight against illegal mining any day, anytime, and anywhere,” Mr. Afful stated.
“His passion and determination to protect Ghana’s environment are unquestionable.”
Mr. Afful further emphasised that, in his view, the Minister would not disappoint Ghanaians in the ongoing fight against galamsey, stressing that his actions so far demonstrate a clear resolve to bring the destructive practice to an end.
Using a biblical analogy to underline his confidence, Mr. Afful remarked that, unlike historical betrayals, he trusts that Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah would remain steadfast in his mandate to protect the country’s natural resources.
According to Mr. Afful, the Minister’s leadership reflects a renewed urgency in tackling illegal mining, particularly its devastating effects on water bodies, farmlands, and forest reserves.
RCOMSDEP, he added, remains committed to supporting government efforts through responsible mining initiatives and conservation programs aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods while safeguarding the environment.
