The Ashanti Caucus of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) has expressed solidarity with the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, following the High Court's judgment against him.

In a statement issued on Monday, the caucus described Chairman Wontumi as a "fearless, resilient, and selfless leader" whose contribution to the growth and electoral success of the NPP "cannot be erased by a single court decision".

The MPs said they respected the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary but stressed that Chairman Wontumi has a constitutional right to challenge the decision through the appellate courts.

"We have every confidence that justice will ultimately prevail through the appeal process," the statement said.

The caucus also rejected suggestions that the judgment marks the end of Chairman Wontumi's political career.

"We reject every attempt to portray this judgment as the end of Chairman Wontumi's public and political life," the statement said, urging party members to rally behind him.

The MPs further expressed concern over what they described as a growing perception of selective justice and unequal application of the law.

"The fight against illegality must be fair, impartial, and devoid of political considerations. Justice must never become an instrument for settling political scores or intimidating political opponents," they stated.

The caucus appealed to NPP members, particularly those in the Ashanti Region, to remain calm, united and law-abiding while supporting the party's regional chairman.

"We stand firmly with you. This battle is not yours alone; it is a test of our collective commitment to justice, fairness, and democratic principles," the statement concluded.
