Ayawaso East NDC Primaries: Widow, brother of late MP and Baba Jamal declare intent
As the National Democratic Congress (NDC) prepares to open nominations for its parliamentary primary process, significant figures linked to the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso East have taken steps to enter the race.
Brother and widow of the late Ayawaso East MP, Mahama Naser Toure, have officially announced intention to contest the seat on the ticket of the NDC.
In addition to Mrs Adam’s and her brother-in-law’s declaration, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal, has also declared his intention to contest the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary.
Mr Jamal, a former MP for Akwatia, confirmed that he will file his nomination ahead of the NDC primary. This was confirmed by the Deputy Communications Officer for the party, Godwin Ako-Gunn, who spoke to Class News, announcing February 7, 2026, as the party’s internal primaries ahead of the candidate ahead of the by-election slated for March 3, 2026.
