Bawumia gain endorsement in Ashanti Region

The presidential campaign of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia gained further momentum yesterday as he secured a wave of endorsements from party delegates across four key constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

Dr. Bawumia’s campaign trail moved through Ejura-Sekyedumase, Mampong, Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo, and Afigya Kwabre North, where he engaged with delegates ahead of the crucial party primary scheduled for January 31.

Addressing supporters and delegates, the former Vice President expressed profound gratitude for the enthusiastic reception.

"Once again, I received the overwhelming endorsement of delegates, and I am immensely grateful," Dr. Bawumia stated.

He framed the support as a collective effort, adding, "We are winning together on January 31."

The Ashanti Region, a stronghold of the party, is considered critical for any presidential hopeful seeking the party’s nomination.

The positive response from delegates in these constituencies is seen as a significant indicator of Dr. Bawumia’s strengthening grassroots appeal within the party’s base.

The campaign swing focused on direct engagement, allowing delegates to interact with the candidate and discuss local and national issues.

While specific vote tallies from the delegate engagements were not disclosed, the campaign described the support as "resounding" and "unmistakable."

Dr. Bawumia, who served as Vice President from 2017 to 2025, is widely viewed as a frontrunner in the contest to become the party’s flagbearer for the next general elections.

His campaign has emphasised economic management, digital transformation, and continuity of the administration's key policies.

Political analysts note that consolidating support in the Ashanti Region is a key strategic objective for all contenders. The January 31 primary will determine who leads the party into the next national election cycle.
