Bolivia's Senate presents plague to Ghana to renew ties
The Chamber of Senators of the Plurinational State of Bolivia has conferred a National Tribute on the Consulate of the Republic of Ghana in Bolivia in recognition of its significant contributions to health, culture, and the arts—particularly in support of the Afro-Bolivian community.
The honour, presented on October 22, 2025, also acknowledges the Consulate’s role in strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Bolivia through cultural diplomacy and mutual cooperation.
A key highlight of the recognition was the delivery of a commemorative mural on the Paseo de los Embajadores (Avenue of Ambassadors) in the historic city of Sucre, symbolising friendship between the two nations.
The mural and accompanying commemorative plaque were presented by the Autonomous Municipal Government of Chuquisaca to the Ghanaian Consulate, marking a moment of cultural and diplomatic solidarity.
The drafting senator, Silvia Gilma Salame Farjat, noted that the gesture underscores “the historical ties that unite Bolivia and Ghana,” while celebrating the Consulate’s efforts in fostering social development and cultural exchange.
The resolution, enacted under Article 160, paragraph 7 of Bolivia’s Constitution and Article 98 of the General Regulations of the Chamber of Senators, was signed by:
Sen. Andrónico Damas Rodríguez Ledezma, President of the Chamber of Senators
Sen. Roberto Padilla Bedoya, First Secretary
Sen. Silvia Gilma Salame Farjat, National Senator
In a statement following the award, Bolivian legislators commended Ghana’s Consulate for its enduring partnership and initiatives that have deepened cooperation between the two countries.
The tribute coincides with Bolivia’s 200th anniversary celebrations, symbolising a renewed commitment to friendship, cultural recognition, and international solidarity between Ghana and Bolivia.
