The Constitution Review Committee(CRC) has entered its third month of public consultations, with significant progress made in its nationwide engagement drive.

So far, the 8-member committee has conducted 12 Thematic Stakeholder Engagements, 5 Identifiable Interest Group meetings, and 8 Eminent Person sessions as part of efforts to gather broad-based input on potential reforms to the 1992 Constitution.

All stakeholder and interest group engagements have been live-streamed to ensure transparency and public access.

Thematic discussions have spanned a wide range of key national issues, including Land and Natural Resources; Local Government and Decentralization; Public Services and State Enterprises; Independent Constitutional Bodies and the Council of State; Political Transitions; Political Parties; The Executive and Legislature; the Judiciary; Rights, Gender and Youth; Public Finance and Economic Governance; and Anti-Corruption.

Upcoming engagements will focus on the topics of Chieftaincy and Citizenship.

As part of its outreach to Identifiable Interest Groups, the Committee has held cross-thematic meetings with Business and Labour Unions, Academia and Professional Bodies, the Military, Police and other Security Services, and the Media.

Additional consultations are scheduled with traditional leaders and religious institutions.

The Committee has also sought insights from prominent national figures through Eminent Person Engagements.

Those consulted so far include President John Dramani Mahama and former President John Agyekum Kufuor; Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin; former Speaker Prof. Mike Ocquaye; former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo; constitutional law expert Nana S.K.B. Asante; former Chief of Staff Nana Ato Dadzie; legal luminary Sam Okudzeto; and governance expert Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi. More such engagements are planned in the coming weeks.

Zonal public forums are also scheduled in major cities, including Accra, Wa, Bolgatanga, Tamale, Sunyani, Kumasi, Koforidua, Cape Coast, Takoradi, and Ho.

In addition, an online engagement session with the Ghanaian diaspora is being prepared.

Specific dates for these zonal meetings will be announced soon.

As part of its digital outreach, the Committee will host an X Space (formerly Twitter Space) discussion on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM, moderated by social media influencer Kaly Jay.

The Constitution Review Committee continues to invite written submissions from individuals, civil society groups, and institutions.
