EC convenes IPAC meeting ahead of Ayawaso East by-election Feb. 11
The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election.
In a letter dated February 6, 2026, and addressed to the General Secretaries of all registered political parties, the Commission announced that the meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the EC’s Corporate Head Office in Accra.
According to the EC, discussions at the meeting will focus exclusively on arrangements for the Ayawaso East by-election.
The Commission further directed that each political party should be represented by only two persons.
The invitation was signed by Dr. Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, on behalf of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
The Ayawaso East by-election has drawn heightened public and political attention in recent days, particularly following internal developments within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including allegations of vote-buying during the party’s parliamentary primary.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, which has left the seat vacant.
