EC to rerun election in 19 polling stations at Ablekuma North on July 11

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it will conduct a rerun of elections in 19 out of 37 polling stations at Ablekuma North in the Greater Accra Region following discrepancies in the verification process during the collation of results.
According to a statement signed by the EC’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the Commission arrived at the decision after extensive deliberations and consultations with political parties.
The Commission explained that while the scanned results from the 19 polling stations were approved by agents of both major political parties, they were not verified by the respective Presiding Officers, which constitutes a breach of the electoral verification protocol.
“In light of this, the Commission has decided to rerun the election in these polling stations to ensure credibility and transparency in the process,” the statement read.
However, the EC clarified that it was able to secure the verification and confirmation of results from the remaining 18 polling stations from both the Presiding Officers and party agents.
As such, no rerun will be conducted in those areas.
The rerun is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The Electoral Commission also called on the Ghana Police Service to provide adequate security to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the conduct of the rerun.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to upholding electoral integrity and ensuring that the will of the people is accurately reflected through a transparent and credible process
