GAP slams NPP's expulsions at Agona West
The Ghana Alternative Party (GAP), positioning itself as a rising political force, has extended warm Christmas and New Year wishes to all Ghanaians while sharing its perspectives on recent political developments.
In a statement signed by its Founder and Leader, Osahene Nana Agyei Boateng, GAP congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their decisive victory in the 2024 general elections.
The party expressed optimism about collaborating with the incoming administration to address the challenges facing Ghanaians, including its advocacy for a “24-hour economy.”
GAP criticized the recent expulsion of 280 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Agona West Constituency, describing the decision as harsh and disenfranchising.
The party extended an invitation to all disillusioned members of any political party or coalition to join GAP as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
The statement also lauded the NDC’s "Operation Retrieve All Loot" (ORAL) initiative, a key campaign promise aimed at recovering state resources allegedly misappropriated by past officials.
GAP urged the NDC to expedite the initiative to restore public confidence in governance.
Amid heightened tensions surrounding the re-collation of parliamentary results, GAP urged both the NPP and NDC to adhere to the rule of law and resolve disputes peacefully.
The party paid tribute to Ghanaians, including security personnel, election officials, and civilians, who experienced violence or lost their lives during the election period.
While pledging to support the incoming NDC government with ideas, GAP reaffirmed its commitment to constructive criticism when necessary, emphasizing its role in shaping a brighter future for Ghana.
The statement concluded with a call for unity and resilience as the nation transitions into a new administration.
