Ghana has congratulated President Mamady Doumbouya and the people of Guinea on the successful and peaceful democratic transition.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel O. Ablakwa, reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to strengthen bilateral relations with Guinea, building on the historic bond of brotherhood between President Ahmed Sékou Touré and Ghana’s founding father, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

The minister recalled that following his overthrow on 24 February 1966, Dr Nkrumah was received in Guinea, where he notably served as co-president, a testament to the enduring solidarity between the two nations.

Ghana expressed its best wishes to the government and people of Guinea as they embark on this important democratic milestone and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Guinea to advance peace, stability, and development in the sub-region.
