Nyaho‑Tamakloe vows not to quit NPP in the face of expulsion
Dr. Nyaho Nyaho‑Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has declared he will never resign from the party, saying he joined the party long before the current leadership and will not be pushed out for speaking his mind.
The veteran political figure made the remarks amid tensions within the party over internal criticism and possible disciplinary action against a senior member, Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.
He accused the current leadership of hijacking the party and running it into the ground, alleging it came to power through “thievery” and is out of step with the party’s founding principles.
Dr. Nyaho‑Tamakloe’s comments follow moves by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, to initiate expulsion proceedings against former Environment Minister Professor Kwabena Frimpong‑Boateng for remarks perceived as disparaging to the party.
Speaking on TV3’s News Central, Dr. Nyaho‑Tamakloe said he fully supports Prof. Frimpong‑Boateng’s position, arguing it reflects valid concerns about the party’s direction.
He challenged the leadership to expel him and other outspoken members if it proceeds with disciplinary actions, saying many long‑standing members share similar criticisms.
He insisted the NPP was founded on freedom, justice, democracy and freedom of expression, asserting that criticism — even tough commentary — should be engaged with rather than punished.
