A social media post attributed to the Personal Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Annan Perry, has reignited political discussions over the Bank of Ghana’s reported financial losses and how the matter is being debated in public space.

In the post dated May 10, 2026, Annan Perry responded to comments suggesting that Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayeribi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah would prefer to engage Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson on the issue of the Bank of Ghana’s 2025 financial performance rather than debate Sammy Gyamfi.

He argued that public debates, like structured competitions, require participants to go through progressive stages before reaching higher levels of engagement.

“Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, you are respectfully advised to debate Sammy first.

In most competitions, one goes through the qualifying stages and quarterfinals before advancing to the semifinals,” he wrote.

The comment was widely interpreted as a suggestion that Oppong Nkrumah should first engage Sammy Gyamfi in a debate before taking on broader discussions involving the Finance Minister.

The post also touched on ongoing public discourse surrounding the Bank of Ghana’s reported financial losses, which has become a major subject of political and economic debate in recent months.

According to Perry, discussions on the central bank’s financial performance should be anchored in facts, accountability, and informed analysis rather than partisan narratives.

The post has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with supporters of both the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) weighing in on the exchange.

The Bank of Ghana’s financial position continues to attract public scrutiny, with renewed calls for clearer communication and stronger oversight of its operations amid the ongoing debate.
