NDC reclaims Hohoe seat
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reclaimed the Hohoe parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), delivering a decisive victory in the 2024 general elections.
Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo of the NDC emerged as the Member of Parliament-elect, securing 31,163 votes against the 14,971 garnered by the incumbent, John Peter Amewu, representing a margin of over 16,000 votes.
This victory completes the NDC’s sweep of all 18 parliamentary seats in the Volta Region, eliminating the NPP's sole stronghold in Hohoe.
Mr. Amewu’s loss marks a significant disappointment for the NPP in the region.
Despite his efforts to retain the seat, Mr. Amewu, who also serves as the Minister for Railway Development, was unable to secure a second term.
His tenure focused on infrastructure development in Hohoe, but the constituency’s voters opted for a change in representation.
