Napo pledges NPP's commitment to teachers welfare
The Vice Presidential Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has stated that the NPP government, under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has done more for the welfare and development of teachers than any other administration in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
Speaking during an engagement with teacher groups in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, a former Minister of Education, emphasized the strides made by the government in improving teachers’ conditions of service.
He noted that the starting salary of teachers in Ghana has tripled compared to 2016 levels, a significant marker of progress under the NPP administration.
“The NPP government has consistently prioritized the welfare of teachers, recognizing their invaluable role in shaping the education process and the nation’s future,” Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated.
He added that under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party remains committed to sustaining this focus and delivering on its promises to teachers.
In addition to his remarks on education, Dr. Opoku Prempeh opened a three-storey multipurpose auditorium in AshTown as part of his legacy projects as the outgoing Member of Parliament for Manhyia South.
The facility, equipped with ancillary amenities and well-designed external features, is set to serve as a modern venue for religious gatherings, social functions, and community events.
“This project reflects our collective efforts to enhance social infrastructure in Manhyia South.
It is my hope that this facility will not only address the immediate needs of the community but also inspire unity and foster development for generations to come,” he remarked during the opening ceremony.
