Vice President Prof Nana Jane Opoku -Agyemang has emphasised the need to revitalise the deep-rooted Pan-African connections between Ghana and Guinea during a working visit to Conakry for the investiture of Guinea's President, Mamadi Doumbouya.

The visit, which included a poignant tour of the former residence of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, served as a reminder of the unique historical ties binding the two nations.

Following his overthrow in 1966, Dr. Nkrumah was made Co-President of Guinea in a powerful symbolic act of African solidarity and unity.

Speaking after the tour, Vice President Opoku- Agyemang highlighted this shared history as a foundation for future collaboration.

"The bond between Ghana and Guinea is not merely diplomatic; it is forged in the very struggle for African dignity and integration," she stated.

"We must rekindle this spirit of cooperation to tackle contemporary challenges and advance the cause of African development and unity."

The investiture ceremony gathered African leaders and global delegations, with Ghana's representation led by the Vice President.

The visit also provided an opportunity to engage with the Ghanaian diaspora in Guinea.

The General Secretary of the Ghanaian Community in Guinea, Seidu Osman Fisher, commended the Ghanaian government for the current economic trajectory and specifically praised Vice President Opoku- Agyemang for her exemplary leadership as Chair of the Police Council.

"The Ghanaian community here is proud of the direction of our homeland and particularly of the Vice President's dedicated service," Mr. Fisher said.
