A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Afigya Kwabre North MP, Collins Adomako-Mensah has insisted that the 20-year sentence handed to the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard 'Wontumi' Antwi-Boasiako, over illegal mining is "selective justice”.

He questioned why elements within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), whose involvement in galamsey, he said, had been confirmed by President John Mahama, had not faced any prosecution.

To back his claim, he cited a recent report by the Fourth Estate which, he said, found that nine months after the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources revoked the lease of a licensed mining company in Prestea-Huni Valley, the mine was  fully operated by a group of illegal miners connected to the NDC.

He claimed the activity was led by a person he identified as Ebenezer Amegakpor, an NDC activist in the Prestea-Huni Valley constituency.

Collins said the illegal miners took over RMG Mining Company's concession in March 2025 after national security personnel stormed the underground mine.

"These are clear evidences that people in this government are involved in galamsey," he emphasised.
