Lead Counsel for the first accused person in the ongoing Buffer Stock criminal trial, Godfred Yeboah Dame has announced his intention to appeal the High Court's decision directing the Attorney-General to amend two counts on the charge sheet.

The ruling requires the prosecution to amend Counts 9 and 14, both of which relate to the offence of defrauding by false pretences.

The court held that the two charges lacked sufficient particulars to adequately inform the accused persons of the specific allegations against them as required to ensure a fair trial. 

It ruled that the charges, in their current form, did not provide enough details of the alleged offences.

Following the ruling by the presiding Judge, Justice Francis Achibonga, Godfred Dame indicated that his disagreement with the court's decision and would challenge it at the Court of Appeal.

The High Court's order means the Attorney-General must amend the two counts by providing further particulars before the trial proceeds.

Hanan Abdul-Wahab and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, are facing 20 charges including stealing and causing financial loss to the State.

The case has been adjourned to July 29, 2026.
