Mahama launches maiden Ghana Agrotech Fair to boost local innovation
President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the maiden Ghana Agrotech Fair at the Black Star Square, marking a significant step in the country’s drive toward agricultural and industrial transformation.
The initiative brings together Ghanaian innovators, engineers and entrepreneurs engaged in the design, fabrication and manufacture of agricultural machinery, as well as the development of technological solutions across the agricultural value chain.
The fair is aimed at positioning Ghana as a hub for agro-industrial innovation and promoting self-reliance through local production.
Organisers say the initiative forms part of a broader vision to accelerate economic development through agriculture, with strong emphasis on innovation, value addition and industrialisation.
The event was organised through collaboration between the Ghana Export-Import Bank and the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.
The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, alongside board members, management of Ghana EXIM Bank, and members of the Agrotech Planning Committee, were commended for their roles in successfully organising the event.
The Ghana Agrotech Fair is expected to become an annual platform for showcasing local ingenuity, fostering partnerships and advancing efforts to modernise agriculture and drive sustainable economic growth.
