The Chairman of the newly constituted Board of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Moses Afetsi Positive, has commended Margins ID Group and its subsidiary, Intelligent Card Production Systems (ICPS), for their pivotal role in conceptualising, designing, and producing the Ghanacard, which has become central to governance and national development.

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement with the company, Mr. Positive lauded the Group’s expertise and internationally recognised standards, noting that its work had positioned Ghana as a leader in digital identity systems across Africa.

“The Ghanacard is now the backbone of our service delivery and economic transactions.

Margins ID Group’s performance is a testament to Ghana’s ability to meet global standards,” he said.

While praising the company’s multiple ISO certifications — benchmarks for quality, safety, and sustainability — the NIA Board Chairman also cautioned against potential abuses of the system by human actors.
“ISO will help and give you the structures, but the human factor is something you always have to work with,” he stressed, urging strict adherence to discipline and ethical conduct.

The engagement marked one of the first official activities of the new NIA Board, which reviewed the Ghanacard project and explored strategies for long-term sustainability.

Margins ID Group, represented by CEO Moses Baiden and Executive Directors, reaffirmed its commitment to secure, scalable, and innovative identity solutions that align with Ghana’s digitalisation agenda.

The meeting also included a tour of ICPS’s secure card production facility in Accra — the largest of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa — where board members observed the Ghanacard production process, from software development to issuance.

Mr. Baiden highlighted the advanced accountability features embedded in the Ghanacard system.
“The printers we designed for the project are self-auditable, so you know where each card goes and who issues it.

This guarantees traceability and minimises fraud,” he explained.

ICPS holds key certifications, including ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), PCI CP (Payment Card Industry Card Production & Provisioning), and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (Information Security Management).

Margins ID Group itself has also secured multiple accreditations, including ISO 22301:2019, ISO 20000:2018, and national Cybersecurity certifications.

For over ten years, Margins ID Group has partnered with the NIA to register Ghanaian citizens, Ghanaians abroad, and foreign nationals residing in the country.

The Ghanacard has since become a critical requirement for banking, telecommunications, healthcare, and government services, firmly anchoring it within Ghana’s digital economy.

Beyond ICPS, Margins ID Group’s subsidiaries — including Margins ID Systems Applications (MIDSA) and Identity Management Systems (IMS) — provide biometric software and identity management expertise that have been instrumental to the Ghanacard’s success.

The engagement underscored the NIA Board’s commitment to deepening collaboration with its technical partners while boosting public confidence in the Ghanacard.
