All Blacks hold Hearts of Oak to a goalless draw in GPL match-day 10 opener
Newbies All Blacks proved their resilience in the opening fixture of match-day 10 of the Ghana Premier League, holding giants Hearts of Oak to a gritty 0-0 draw at the Swedru All Blacks Park on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Both sides entered the contest desperate to revive their campaigns after inconsistent recent outings, but despite their determination and intensity, neither side could find the breakthrough in a tense and cagey encounter.
The result leaves both teams with a point apiece.
The stalemate marks the second time this season that Hearts of Oak have been held to a scoreless draw on the road, though it extends their impressive five-match unbeaten run away from home.
Hearts of Oak nearly made an early statement in the eighth minute when Ransford Mensah slipped a precise through-ball to Hamza Issah.
However, Issah’s effort was blocked brilliantly by the alert All Blacks' defence.
The hosts responded in the 19th minute with a dangerous free-kick from Rudolf Mensah, whose curling strike forced Hearts keeper Solomon Agbasi into a superb acrobatic save to keep the match level.
Hearts suffered a major setback late in the first half when midfielder Hussein Mohammed was forced off following a reckless challenge.
Abdul Karim was brought on as his replacement, disrupting the visitors’ momentum just before halftime.
Newbies All Blacks returned from the break with renewed intensity, immediately testing Agbasi with another threatening free-kick.
The goalkeeper once again stood his ground, parrying the strike away, and followed it up with a second impressive save just minutes later as the pressure mounted.
The Phobians looked increasingly fatigued in the second half, absorbing waves of attacks from the spirited home side. However, their defensive unit remained resolute, keeping the All Blacks at bay to secure a clean sheet.
The draw extends Newbies All Blacks’ winless streak to four matches, leaving them in 14th place on the league table with only 8 points.
They will hope to reverse their fortunes when they travel to face Dreams FC in their next fixture.
Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, risk slipping out of the top four depending on the outcomes of the remaining match-day 10 fixtures.
They will aim to return to winning ways when they visit Young Apostles in their next league match.
