Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to attend Black Stars’ World Cup opener in Toronto
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will attend the Black Stars' 2026 World Cup Group L opening match against Panama at the BMO Field in Toronto, Canada, on June 17.
According to a report by Graphic Online, the Asantehene traveled to Canada from Poland, where he was last week, to inspire the national team ahead of the tournament.
During his visit, he will also serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Business Summit in Toronto, which runs from June 15 to 21 and is organized by the Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and its partners.
Following a 1-1 draw against Wales in their recent friendly, the Black Stars will conclude their World Cup preparations with a final friendly against Jamaica on June 10 before entering the tournament.
Ghana is placed in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Following their opener against Panama in Toronto, the team will travel to Boston to face England on June 23, and conclude the group stage against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
The Black Stars are aiming to advance to the knockout stages for the first time since 2010.
