Black Damsels: Ghana U-15 women's football team set to defend crown at CAF ASFC finals
Ghana’s Under-15 girls’ side, popularly called the Black Damsels, are preparing to protect their title as they head into the next edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship.
The continental tournament, staged by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is scheduled to run from April 2 to April 10, 2026, in Maputo, Mozambique.
Since it was introduced, the competition has quickly established itself as a major platform for youth football across Africa, providing opportunities to identify promising players while strengthening development at the grassroots level.
Arriving as reigning champions, the Black Damsels carry both confidence and responsibility after their landmark victory in the last edition. That success underlined Ghana’s growing stature in girls’ youth football and reflected ongoing efforts to invest in young talent nationwide.
The squad was put together through joint work between the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Education Service, with careful preparations made ahead of the finals.
Defending the title, however, will present a stiff challenge, as teams from across the continent are expected to mount strong campaigns to unseat the champions.
Driven by focus, teamwork and national pride, Ghana’s young stars will be aiming to reaffirm their dominance and show they remain a leading force in schools’ football in Africa.
