Hearts of Oak clarifies status of Hamza Issah amid transfer controversy
Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC has issued a statement addressing recent media reports and public discussions concerning midfielder Hamza Issah.
The club confirmed that Issah remains under a valid and legally binding employment contract with Hearts of Oak.
No court, arbitration panel, or regulatory body — including the Ghana Football Association Player Status Committee (GFA‑PSC) or FIFA — has ruled that the contract has been terminated.
Hearts of Oak dismissed allegations of repeated or significant financial breaches that could justify unilateral contract termination under FIFA’s player-transfer regulations.
The club stated that it met with Issah twice after receiving communications from his representatives and acted in good faith to resolve all pending issues.
The management condemned the unauthorised leak and public sharing of confidential correspondence by Issah’s representatives, describing the action as unprofessional and contrary to football’s ethical and regulatory norms.
The club also raised concerns over Siwele Football Club, which allegedly approached Issah, organised travel arrangements, and issued an invitation without informing Hearts of Oak while the player’s contract remained active.
The club described this conduct as inducement and unlawful interference with an existing contract, in violation of FIFA regulations.
In response, Hearts of Oak has filed formal complaints against ProSports International and Siwele Football Club with FIFA and other relevant authorities, pursuing legal and regulatory measures to protect its contractual rights and integrity.
The club emphasised its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and compliance with football regulations, advising fans, stakeholders, and the public to rely solely on information issued through official club channels.
