Black Stars undergo integrity briefing ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Integrity Unit has conducted a mandatory integrity briefing for players and officials of the Black Stars ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The session formed part of efforts by the GFA and FIFA to reinforce their zero-tolerance stance on match manipulation and ensure that all members of the national team understand how to identify and reject any attempts to influence matches unlawfully.
The briefing was led by the GFA's Integrity Officer, who educated players and officials on the risks associated with match manipulation, the tactics commonly used by match-fixers, and the consequences of engaging in any form of corruption related to match outcomes during the tournament.
Participants were taken through various scenarios used by individuals involved in match manipulation, including direct messages, indirect approaches through third parties, and offers of financial or material benefits in exchange for influencing the outcome of matches.
The session also reminded players and officials of the strict rules prohibiting betting on football, whether directly or indirectly, as well as the sharing of confidential information.
Particular emphasis was placed on protecting sensitive team information, including injury updates, team selection decisions and tactical plans, which could be exploited for betting purposes or attempts at match manipulation.
The Integrity Officer further highlighted the availability of confidential reporting channels that operate around the clock, assuring players and officials that reports of suspicious activity can be made anonymously and will be treated with confidentiality.
The briefing forms part of FIFA's integrity programme aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the World Cup and protecting participants from match-fixing and other forms of corruption.
