The team getting ready for action in Libya

El-Wak Wings, Ghana's premier men's volleyball team, is gearing up for the 2025 Men's African Volleyball Club Championship, scheduled from April 17 to April 30 in Misurata, Libya.

Following their impressive second-place finish in the Greater Accra Men’s Volleyball League, the team is eager to represent Ghana on the continental stage.

The championship will feature 24 top African volleyball clubs competing in a round-robin format, progressing to knockout stages including the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final.

El-Wak Wings is set to depart for Libya on April 15, aiming to make a significant impact.

However, the team's participation is threatened by financial constraints.

They require at least $35,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and other logistics.

The Chief Executive Officer, Edem Devine Dotse, has made heartfelt appeals to corporate bodies, government institutions, and the general public for support, stating, “We are going to represent Ghana and hoist the Ghanaian flag high.

We appeal to corporate bodies and agencies to come to our aid.

We also call on the Ministry of Sports and Recreation for support.”

With the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Kofi Adams, now in office, the CEO is hopeful that urgent assistance will be provided to ensure the team’s participation.

“We are appealing to the new Sports Minister to come to our aid and ensure we can represent Ghana in this tournament,” he added.

Time is of the essence, as the team is scheduled to depart on April 15. Without the necessary funding, Ghana's sole representative in the African Clubs Championship risks missing out on this vital opportunity to showcase their talent and bring glory to the nation.
