GFA President meets Maryland State oficials ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup
President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has held high-level discussions with officials of the State of Maryland in the United States as part of strategic preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The meeting focused on exploring partnerships to support Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, ahead of the global tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Key areas of discussion included logistical support, fan engagement activities, and collaboration across host cities in the U.S. to enhance the Ghanaian presence during the competition.
Mr. Simeon-Okraku emphasised the importance of early planning and strong international partnerships to ensure a successful World Cup campaign for the Black Stars, both on and off the pitch.
He noted that engaging Ghanaian communities in the diaspora and strengthening ties with host state authorities would play a critical role in boosting team morale and national support.
Maryland State officials welcomed the engagement and expressed readiness to work with the GFA to promote cultural exchange, fan festivals, and other initiatives that would celebrate Ghana’s participation in the tournament.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts by the GFA to position Ghana strongly ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and to mobilise support for the Black Stars across the United States.
