Gospel musician and long-time national team supporter Obaa Yaa Grace Ashly has expressed profound disappointment over the Ghana Football Association's decision to dismiss former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Ashly revealed she was in Stuttgart when the news broke and felt the timing of the dismissal was flawed, suggesting any leadership changes should have been delayed until after the national team's friendlies.

She noted that the football structure would have benefited more from pairing Addo with an experienced technical advisor rather than parting ways with him entirely.

While acknowledging that football authorities likely acted in what they believed to be the team's best interest, Ashly maintained that the technical team needed stability and external support over a complete overhaul.

The singer had previously used a 2025 appearance on Hitz FM to publicly urge Ghanaians and administrators to rally behind Addo instead of demanding his exit.

Addo was relieved of his duties in March 2026 following consecutive friendly defeats to Austria and Germany, which led to the appointment of Portuguese strategist Carlos Queiroz ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ashly, who has composed and performed official cheer songs for the Black Stars since 2006, remains optimistic about the team's current campaign, expressing hope that the squad will navigate past the group stage and achieve historic success at the ongoing global tournament.
