Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has emerged as a key figure in Coventry City’s remarkable promotion campaign, as the club secures a return to the Premier League after a 25-year absence.

Under manager Frank Lampard, the Sky Blues have enjoyed a dramatic turnaround.

When Lampard took over in November 2024, Coventry were struggling in 17th place in the EFL Championship.

He guided them to the play-offs in his first season, where they narrowly lost to Sunderland.

Building on that progress, Lampard reshaped the team for the 2025/26 season, instilling a balance between defensive solidity and attacking fluidity.

The result has been a dominant campaign, with Coventry amassing over 80 points and opening a commanding lead at the top of the table.

Central to this success has been Thomas-Asante, whose performances have underpinned the club’s attacking threat.

The forward has scored 12 goals this season, making him the team’s second-highest scorer, while also contributing four assists.

His total of 16 goal involvements ranks him among the club’s most influential attackers, combining clinical finishing with intelligent movement and effective link-up play alongside teammates such as Haji Wright.

Thomas-Asante’s rise adds another layer to Coventry’s success story, having progressed from the lower tiers of English football to playing a decisive role in a promotion-winning side.

His work rate and composure in front of goal have earned him recognition as one of the standout performers in the Championship this season.

With promotion all but secured, Coventry City are set to return to the Premier League, capping a remarkable resurgence under Lampard and setting the stage for a new chapter in the club’s history.
