University of Development Studies (UDS) is making a serious statement at the 2026 Honda Football Championship and nobody seems to be able to stop them.

After winning their first game against Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) on penalties 4-2 following a 1-1 draw, UDS came into Match Day 2 with confidence and they needed every bit of it.

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) had other plans though. They came out aggressive and took the lead as early as the 4th minute through Awuah Bismark, putting UDS under pressure right from the start. It was a sharp and unexpected start that had UDS scrambling to find their footing.

UDS, however, are not a side that panics easily. They kept their heads up and Jorge Renah stepped up in the 32nd minute to equalize and bring the game to 1-1. From that moment, UDS shifted into attack mode and began pushing hard for a second goal to take the lead.

But UENR had other ideas. Just when it looked like UDS were taking control, Aziz Yusif scored in the 45th minute to put UENR back in front and silence the UDS momentum. It was a gut punch, but UDS refused to give up.

They kept pushing, kept fighting and kept believing. Deep into added time, in the 64th minute, Emmanuel Adongo delivered when it mattered most, scoring to level the game at 2-2 and send the match to penalties, just like Match Day 1.

From the spot, UDS were ice cool. They converted their penalties with composure to win 4-3 and seal back to back victories at the 2026 Honda Football Championship. Two games, two wins, and a team that knows exactly how to win the hard way. UDS are on a roll and the championship is taking notice.

The action continues tomorrow with Match Day 3 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. University of Development Studies (UDS) take on University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) face Tamale Technical University (TaTU), University of Ghana will go up against University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS) and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) will clash with Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU). First kick off is scheduled for 3:00pm. Be there.

The 2026 Honda Football Championship is powered by Honda and Overseas Union Ltd, the sole distributors of Honda Motorcycles in Ghana. The event is produced by RITE Sports Services.
