Finance Minister inaugurating the technical commiteees

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ato Forson, has inaugurated three Technical Committees as part of the government’s strategy to strengthen agriculture financing and enhance productivity in key economic crops.

The committees, which cover Agriculture Financing, Oil Palm, and Cocoa, are expected to design policy frameworks and practical interventions to improve access to financing and drive growth in the sector.

Agriculture Financing Committee

Dr. Forson announced that the Technical Committee on Agriculture Financing has been given a three-week mandate to develop a comprehensive policy framework that will support financing for strategic crops.

The committee is composed of officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Ghana, GIRSAL, EXIM Bank, and the Development Bank of Ghana. Members include:

David Collison – Ministry of Finance

Samuel Arkhurst – Ministry of Finance

Cynthia Arthur – Ministry of Finance

Frederick Amissah – Ministry of Finance

Emelia Awuviri – Bank of Ghana

Desmond Agbogah – Bank of Ghana

Samuel Yeboah – GIRSAL

Kojo Aboagye-Yeboah – EXIM Bank

Prof. Eric Osei-Assibey – Development Bank of Ghana

Edna Baffoe-Bonnie – Ministry of Finance (Secretary)

Deborah Ashun – Ministry of Finance (Secretary)

Oil Palm Project Committee

In addition, the Technical Committee on the Oil Palm Project was inaugurated, with members drawn from:

Ministry of Food and Agriculture

Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry

Ministry of Finance (Coordinating Director & Real Sector Division)

Tree Crops Development Authority (Hon. Andy Osei Okrah, Yaw Adjei Agyapong)

Forestry Commission (Ms. Roselyn Fosu Adjei, Mr. Thomas Gyambrah)

Environmental Protection Authority (Mr. Anthony Appianti, Mr. Dominic Peh)

Cocoa Project Committee

The Technical Committee on the Cocoa Project brings together representatives from:

Ministry of Food and Agriculture

Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry

Ministry of Finance (Coordinating Director & Real Sector Division)

Ghana Cocoa Board (Mr. Ato Boateng, Dr. James Kofi Kutsoati, Dr. Francis Baah, Mr. Wahab Suleman)

Tree Crops Development Authority (Rev. Edward Afari, Mr. Yaw Agyei Agyapong)

Forestry Commission (Ms. Roselyn Fosu Adjei, Mr. Thomas Gyambrah)

Environmental Protection Authority

Dr. Forson said the inauguration of the committees underscores the government’s determination to create a robust financing system for agriculture, promote value addition, and ensure the sustainable development of cash crops that are vital to Ghana’s economy.

 

He expressed confidence that the committees will deliver actionable recommendations that will support farmers, boost exports, and strengthen Ghana’s position in global agricultural markets.
