'The Bank Square': BoG's new HQ will foster innovation, excellence in service – Pres. Akufo-Addo
“This new headquarters will serve as the command centre for the Bank of Ghana’s operations. It is designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the bank’s service to the nation,” President Nana Akufo-Addo said at the commissioning of the new and ultramodern headquarters (HQ) of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) nicknamed The Bank Square.
The commissioning took place today, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the BoG HQ in Ridge, Accra, with President Akufo-Addo as the special guest of honour.
“It is a testament to Ghana’s commitment to economic stability and our aspirations to position ourselves as a financial hub in the region,” he remarked.
On his part, the central bank's Governor, Dr Ernest Addision, noting “the Bank of Ghana has multiple offices in Accra," was pleased to declare, "this new facility allows us to bring all these operational units under one roof, streamlining our processes, improving communication, and creating cost efficiencies”.
“This building is more than just a structure; it stands as a modern civic landmark and represents Ghana’s identity as a leader in Africa’s financial ecosystem. It enables us to harmonise operations and align with our modernisation strategy,” he added.
Jerry Edem Adjorlolo mastered the ceremony (MC) of the BoG's HQ, and the high-profile and strictly-by-invitation programme was graced by figures including Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, and Ga Mantse Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.
The Bank Square is an approximately USD250 million cutting-edge project aimed at aiding Ghana stay in tandem, if not ahead, of the rapidly changing global financial world and its trends.
A 150,000-square-metre real estate, the Bank Square has seven structures on its complex, accommodating a reported 2,500 staff members, and affording impressive functionality, while packing a staggering aesthetical and excellence in design for greater efficiencies (EDGE) punch.
