Zambian delegation visits Tarkwa Goldfields to study Ghana’s mining best practices

A high-level delegation from Zambia has undertaken a benchmarking visit to the Tarkwa Goldfields Mine in Ghana’s Western Region to learn from the country’s successful mining operations and regulatory framework.
The study tour forms part of a broader engagement with Ghana’s Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and its key agencies overseeing the extractive sector.
During the visit, the Zambian delegation sought to gain deeper insights into Ghana’s mining structure, environmental management practices, and governance mechanisms that have helped sustain one of Africa’s most advanced large-scale mining industries.
Officials from Gold Fields Ghana and the Minerals Commission briefed the visitors on operational standards, community relations, and environmental sustainability initiatives within the sector.
