Hiplife legend Mzbel, born Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, has expressed disappointment over being left out of President John Dramani Mahama’s appointment of government officials.

Although the rapper and singer told Graphic Showbiz she would turn down an appointment, she indicated the offer would have been welcomed as a great honour, and one earned, also, given her public and incessant advocacy for the party when it was in opposition.

She explained she would have turned down an appointment wanting to save herself from the unbridled scrutiny and criticism which come with public service.

The Yopoo hitmaker questioned the appointment process, however, noting party executives were ignoring her calls unlike previously.

“The truth is that I will turn down an offer of appointment should the President even call because I want peace of mind. I don’t want anyone to equate my success to politics because I work very hard. For instance, should I travel for even my own show, they will say ‘she is travelling with taxpayers’ money. Politics has made her and this and that,” she said.

So far, entertainment figures such as Rex Omar, Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD), Abeiku Santana, Kafui Danku, and James Gardiner, among others, have been appointed to various offices and agencies to help with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) agenda to reset Ghana’s economic fortunes.

“However, I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues have been given appointments while I’ve not even been called. Considering the fact that I’ve really been bullied, insulted and even threatened because of NDC so it’s disappointing that with the party in power now, Mzbel has been forgotten and no one has bothered to even get in touch with me,” Mzbel bemoaned.

“Anyway, I don’t even know how these appointments are being done. Maybe, people submit their resumes or make calls to some influential people to lobby for them but at least a call to make an offer wouldn’t be bad,” the 16-years hitmaker added.

Mzbel has been open and firm in her support for the NDC since 2012. She even rallied votes for the party via a group called Celebrities for Mahama. That notwithstanding, she said she and members of said group have been sidelined in the ongoing appointment of government officials.
