Ghanaian musician Sista Afia has shared an emotional account of the challenges she faced while living in the United Kingdom, revealing that life abroad was far from the dream many imagine.

Speaking in an interview with Zionfelix on YouTube on February 10, 2026, the singer disclosed that she went through severe hardship before fully pursuing her music career. At the time, she was working as a nurse but struggled to make ends meet.

According to her, the situation became so difficult that she sometimes had no stable place to stay, forcing her to sleep in her car or rely on friends for temporary accommodation.

She recalled packing most of her belongings into her car as she moved from place to place.

Sista Afia admitted the experience took a toll on her mental health, describing that period as one of the lowest points in her life.

She said she felt depressed and desperate for a fresh start, adding that she would have accepted any opportunity to leave the UK.

Her fortunes, however, changed after she returned to Ghana — a decision she now describes as the best she has ever made.

Back home, she found support from family and friends, along with a renewed sense of purpose.

With access to stable housing and a familiar environment, she said she was able to rebuild her life and focus on her passion for music.

The singer noted that relocating gave her happiness, stability, and the confidence to grow both personally and professionally.

Today, Sista Afia credits her return to Ghana as the turning point that helped shape her successful music journey.
