Van Vicker congratulates Mahama on strengthening the cedi

Actor Van Vicker has congratulated President John Mahama and his government on “strengthening of the Ghana cedis”.
In a mix of English and Pidgin, he indicated he did not know what exactly Mahama had done to bolster the cedi but encouraged him and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to maintain the strategy.
He, however, cited in his Facebook post some theories behind the cedi’s great performance against foreign currencies like the dollar, including: “US trade wars” and “Ghana government not spending”.
“The true reason could be a consolidation of two or more of – whatever – theories, but be that as it may, the fact remains that the Ghana cedi is approximately GHS11 to $1 today. It was approximately GHS17 to $1 few months ago,” the award-winning actor emphasised.
Vicker clarified he was not making “a political statement” but was simply “credit to whom credit is due”.
