COP Bright Oduro chairs NACOC governing board

The Ministry of the Interior has inaugurated a newly constituted 15-member Governing Board for the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), reinforcing the government’s resolve to intensify the fight against illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse in Ghana.
In a statement delivered on behalf of the Ministry, the sector Minister, Mohammed Muntaka, underscored the growing threat of drug trafficking, describing it as a serious transnational organised crime with devastating impacts, especially on the country’s youth.
He noted that the inauguration of the Board signals a renewed national commitment to transparency, professionalism, and effectiveness in tackling narcotics-related challenges.
The Ministry urged the board to carry out its mandate with courage, integrity, and humility, and to maintain the highest ethical standards in its decision-making.
The Chairman was further encouraged to foster unity, strengthen collaboration among members, and cultivate a culture of accountability and excellence within the Commission.
Expressing full confidence in the newly appointed members, the Minister stressed the need for dedication and teamwork to uphold public trust and ensure the Commission fulfils its mandate effectively.
Chairman of the Board, COP (Rtd.) Bright Oduro, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in the team and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to intensifying public education on the dangers of drug abuse.
He assured that NACOC will work diligently to protect the nation from the destructive impact of illicit drugs and contribute meaningfully to national development and public safety.
