The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has assured the public that a sudden fire outbreak in the Madina Market area has been brought under control.

In an update shared on its official Facebook page, the GNFS said crews from the Madina and Legon fire stations were swiftly deployed to the scene and worked promptly to contain the blaze.

A video released by the service showed firefighters actively battling the fire in what appeared to be a few market stalls or storage units located on the right side of the road leading toward the main market area from the Zongo Junction traffic light.

Although flames appeared subdued at the front of the affected stalls, fire officers were seen pumping water deep into the rooms to prevent the fire from spreading or reigniting.

At the time of publication, the GNFS quoted the video with the caption: “Madina Zongo Junction fire currently under control.”

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage remain unknown, while no casualties have been reported.

The Ghana National Fire Service has assured the public that further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
