Ho Bankoe traditional authorities disown destooled Afetorfia over unauthorized publications
The chiefs, queenmothers, and elders of Ho Bankoe in the Volta Region have publicly dissociated themselves from all activities, statements, and publications attributed to Mr Frederick Akordor, a destooled former Afoetɔfia of Ho Bankoe, warning the public and media to disregard any communication issued by him in the name of the traditional area.
In an official press statement endorsed by more than 25 sub-chiefs, queenmothers, and elders, the traditional authorities accused Mr Akordor of persistently acting without customary authority by circulating correspondence and publishing materials on digital platforms and social media on matters relating to Ho Bankoe, Asogli State, and the Ho Traditional Area.
According to the statement, these publications falsely present Mr Akordor as having the mandate to speak on traditional issues, despite his removal from office.
The leaders described such actions as a blatant misrepresentation of customary authority and an attempt to mislead the public.
The chiefs and elders further alleged that the materials attributed to Mr Akordor contain distortions of fact, unsubstantiated claims, and misleading assertions, some of which target revered traditional institutions, including the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State.
They stressed that these statements are devoid of customary legitimacy and do not reflect the position or decisions of Ho Bankoe Traditional Council, Asogli State, or any recognised traditional body within the Ho Traditional Area.
Clarifying his status, the statement noted that Mr Akordor was lawfully and customarily destooled after a comprehensive traditional inquiry and due process, which found his conduct to be fundamentally incompatible with the discipline, dignity, and responsibilities of his office.
Specific reasons cited for his destoolment include persistent insubordination, disrespect for constituted authority, actions prejudicial to peace and unity in Ho Bankoe and Asogli State, and conduct that brought the stool and traditional governance structures into disrepute.
The traditional authorities emphasised that the destoolment followed established Asogli customary procedures, including wide consultations with elders and queenmothers, and remains valid, binding, and fully operative under customary law.
They, therefore, cautioned the general public, media organisations, and institutions to treat any communication linked to Mr Akordor as purely personal and not representative of Ho Bankoe or any legitimate traditional authority, urging reliance only on verified information from recognised customary leaders in the interest of peace, unity, and respect for traditional governance.
