President John Dramani Mahama returns to Ghana after official visit to China

During his visit, President Mahama and President Xi reaffirmed the strong ties between Ghana and China, culminating in several key agreements to deepen economic and diplomatic cooperation.
Among the major outcomes of the visit was China’s confirmation of an additional 200 million RMB grant to Ghana, adding to an earlier 200 million RMB support package for the construction of the Aflao Market and the renovation of the National Theatre in Accra.
The two leaders also discussed plans to finalise a Zero Tariff Policy by the end of October, promote responsible small-scale mining practices, and expand trade and investment opportunities between their countries.
President Mahama further highlighted Ghana’s commitment to its 24-hour economy initiative and Green Transition policy, both of which China expressed interest in supporting.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the One China Policy and pledged continued cooperation in advancing China’s vision for a new Global System of Governance.
President Mahama was warmly received at the Kotoka International Airport by government officials led by the Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, traditional leaders, and supporters who praised the visit as a step toward strengthening Ghana’s international partnerships and advancing its development agenda.
