Ashiaman Circuit Court jails man 10 years for stealing a mobile phone

The Ashaiman Circuit Court in the Greater Accra Region has sentenced Freeman Kudjo, a resident of Zenu in Ashaiman, to 10 years and three months’ imprisonment for assaulting and robbing a woman of her mobile phones.
The complainant, whose name has been withheld, resides at East Legon.
She reportedly met Kudjo on Facebook, where he proposed friendship.
On August 26, 2025, Kudjo invited her to meet him at Community 22 Estate in Ashaiman.
Shortly after their meeting, the two decided to take a walk within the area.
During the stroll, Freeman Kudjo suddenly grabbed the complainant by the neck and pressed her against a wall.
As she struggled, he forcibly searched her bag and made away with her iPhone XR and Vivo phone, valued at GH¢4,500.
The victim raised an alarm, drawing the attention of community members who apprehended Kudjo and handed him over to the Community 22 Police.
A search during the arrest led to the recovery of the stolen phones.
Presiding Judge Her Honour Priscilla Sophia Yeboah convicted Kudjo on a charge of robbery, sentencing him to 10 years and three months imprisonment with hard labour.
