Car robbery arrests: Kumadoe commends police, says swiftness in all criminal cases would greatly help
Fraud and security analyst Richard Kumadoe has commended the Ghana Police Service for the swift intelligence-led operation which resulted in the arrest of three suspects involved in car robbery.
Richard Kumado, however, expressed “hope” if police show the same sense of swiftness in other instances, it could significantly control “the new wave” of car robberies.
He spoke to Prince Benjamin (PB) on the Class Morning Show, Friday, August 30, 2024, on Class 91.3 FM.
Reggae/Dancehall star Stonebwoy on August 20 appeared on the national broadcaster GBC’s GTV Breakfast Show and informed host Kafui Dei his road manager Chief Stylz’s Mercedes-Benz C had been snatched at gunpoint.
He appealed to the robbers to take what they may from the car and park it somewhere for Chief Stylz and co to come for it, assuring there would be no prosecution or harm done to them.
On Tuesday, August 27, the Ghana Police Service in a statement announced the arrest of three suspects connected to an August 18 robbery in East Legon.
The suspects, Isaac Brena Eshun, Peter ‘Master P’ Amuzu and Ibrahim ‘King Dawah’ Mohammed, were arrested in Takoradi, Accra and Tamale, and on August 21, 23 and 24, respectively. In their possession, among other vehicles, was a Black Mercedes-Benz C180.
At publication time, Stonebwoy’s team has not responded to enquiries concerning confirming if the said vehicle is indeed what was snatched from Chief Stylz.
“It’s my hope and belief – the speed at which the police acted on this one – if they pursue in the same direction, then they may make the criminals go into hiding. Other than that, they are likely to take advantage of many people in the city,” Richard Kumadoe commented.
While the security expert cautioned citizens, especially those who drive luxurious cars to be on alert, and take their personal security seriously, he urged authorities to ensure roads and communities were well-lit to discourage criminal activities.
He also advocated proper city planning with strategic positions for police stations and police barriers.
