RISKSPOT launches in Ghana to tackle cybersecurity
Riskspot was officially inaugurated in Ghana on the 29th of November, 2024.
The ceremony took place at Buro, in Accra under the theme; "The Genesis of Cyber Attacks: Unveiling the Human Factor."
Riskspot stands as a comprehensive human risk management platform that tackles the predominant cybersecurity challenge faced by African enterprises: human fallibility.
With a staggering 90% of cyberattacks attributed to human errors, the platform concentrates on transforming employees from liabilities into assets. Riskspot provides cutting-edge AI-powered phishing simulations, interactive awareness training, policy management, human risk monitoring, and credentials breach monitoring to assist businesses in identifying and mitigating human-related risks effectively.
This platform empowers businesses to evaluate employee risk levels, implement tailored mitigation strategies, and monitor behavioural changes to ensure continuous enhancement in cybersecurity resilience.
Isaac Jaffery, the CEO and co-founder of Riskspot, expounded on their mission and vision statement. "Our core motivation in establishing Riskspot was to elevate Africa's status in the realm of cybersecurity.
Africa has emerged as a prime target for cyber threats due to a lack of awareness among businesses that predominantly focus on technical solutions rather than investing in their human capital.
Hence, we are committed to addressing the root cause of 90% of cybersecurity issues through our innovative solutions."
Addressing the significance of Human Resources, he emphasized, "As pioneers in human resource management platforms on the continent, we have been at the forefront of providing opportunities to young talents fresh out of school.
Currently, we have two dedicated individuals working with us, one of whom has transitioned into a full-time role. Our vision is driven by fostering employee growth and rapid expansion, exemplified by the six open positions in our development team.
We are experiencing substantial growth and are dedicated to nurturing talent within and outside our organization."
Discussing prevailing technological trends and their impact on the cybersecurity sector, Mr. Jaffery highlighted the omnipresence of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"AI has permeated every facet of modern life, enhancing productivity across industries.
However, the challenge lies in safeguarding data privacy amidst the growing reliance on AI technologies.
Our platform leverages AI capabilities to assist companies in proactively harnessing AI for optimal outcomes while reinforcing the importance of data protection.
By integrating AI into our platform, we strive to equip companies with the necessary tools to navigate the evolving landscape of cybersecurity effectively."
Delving into the realm of cybersecurity and safety, the Chief Executive Officer underscored, "A staggering 90% of cyber attacks stem from human errors, underscoring the imperative for Riskspot to spearhead awareness campaigns.
Many individuals overlook the risks associated with sharing personal information on platforms like LinkedIn, while numerous businesses in Ghana underestimate their susceptibility to cyber threats due to their size.
At Riskspot, we prioritize empowering employees with the knowledge and tools to fortify data protection measures both at home and in the workplace.
By focusing on enhancing employee resilience, we aim to foster a culture of vigilance and security consciousness."
On the subject of Diversity and Inclusion, Mr. Jaffery elucidated, "From the outset, our goal has been to ensure universal access to our platform, irrespective of an organization's size or resources. Notably, our platform is freely accessible to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with ten or fewer employees, reflecting our commitment to democratizing cybersecurity solutions.
We are dedicated to democratizing access to cybersecurity resources, ensuring that a vast majority of businesses can benefit from our platform without financial constraints.
By offering complimentary access to our platform, we aim to empower small businesses to navigate the complexities of cybersecurity effectively."
Regarding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mr. Jaffery expressed his commitment to upholding ethical practices and social impact. "CSR is integral to our ethos, and we are actively exploring avenues to enhance our social footprint.
While our current focus lies on promoting sustainable practices within our organization, we are contemplating pursuing certifications to validate our social impact initiatives."
Touching upon the importance of educating young individuals in Computer Science, Mr. Jaffery shared his enthusiasm for fostering partnerships to nurture tech-savvy talents from an early age.
"We recognize the pivotal role of early education in shaping future behaviours and competencies. By collaborating with industry stalwarts and educational institutions, we aspire to instil digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness among students, preparing them for future roles in the technology sector."
Elaborating on the concept of Phishing and its implications in Africa, Mr. Jaffery cautioned about the escalating risks posed by cyber threats.
"While Phishing may currently have a limited impact in Africa, the continent is increasingly vulnerable to cyber intrusions due to the surge in internet usage.
Within the first six months, Africa emerged as the most targeted and vulnerable continent globally, signalling a pressing need for preemptive cybersecurity measures.
At Riskspot, our mission-driven approach is geared towards rapid expansion across Africa and beyond, with a steadfast commitment to fortifying cybersecurity resilience among businesses and individuals."
In conclusion, Mr. Jaffery urged SMEs and individuals to leverage the capabilities of the Riskspot platform, emphasizing the importance of cultivating resilient cybersecurity practices both in professional and personal spheres.
