A violent clash between SHS 2 and SHS 3 students at St. Paul Senior High School in the Eastern Region last Saturday has resulted in the arrest of several final-year students, igniting controversy within the local community.

Reports indicate that the confrontation led to the destruction of school property, prompting authorities to instruct parents of the alleged culprits to pay GHS 3,600 each as compensation for damages.

However, concerns have been raised after it emerged that some students who were mere bystanders during the incident were also arrested and detained alongside the perpetrators.

The detained students have spent over 24 hours in police custody, causing them to miss parts of their ongoing examinations, a situation parents fear could compromise their academic progress.

Parents and education stakeholders are calling for a thorough and fair investigation to ensure that only those directly involved in the violent clash are held accountable.

They caution that detaining innocent students risks jeopardising their education and future prospects.
