Police arrest man with pump action gun and cartridges at Akwatia

Police at Akwatia have arrested a 33-year-old man, Bernard Kumi Ofosu, after a pump action gun and cartridges were found in his car during a patrol operation.
The arrest, which occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, took place near the St. Dominic Hospital stretch of road in Akwatia.
According to police, Mr. Ofosu was intercepted while driving, and a search of his vehicle uncovered a Tulpar double-barrel pump action gun, five AAA live cartridges, and two FTB blank cartridges.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted ownership of the firearm and produced a license — Number 14/1179006, marked AAAJ/1990/2025-ADLER TULPAR 24SA-12262, issued on January 30, 2025.
Police confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
“The case is under investigation, and further updates will be communicated in due course,” authorities said.
