A/R: Ahafo Ano South West MP distributes over 12,000 textbooks to schools

Mr Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South West Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has supplied more than 12,000 textbooks to schools in his constituency as part of efforts to improve teaching and learning.
The distribution covered both primary and junior high schools.
A total of 5,406 English reading books were provided for lower primary pupils (1,731 copies for Basic 1 and 3,675 copies for Basic 2 and 3).
In addition, 2,000 Twi reading books were distributed at the lower primary level, while 3,000 English language books were allocated to upper primary students.
Junior High Schools also received 2,000 English language books.
Altogether, 12,406 textbooks have been supplied to support pupils at different levels.
The intervention comes against the backdrop of rising enrollment figures in the constituency, with 10,794 pupils at the primary level and 7,438 at the JHS level.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Mr. Dapaah reiterated his commitment to promoting quality education, stressing that access to learning materials should not be a barrier for any child.
“Literacy is the bedrock of academic success.
By providing these books, we are not only easing the financial burden on parents and teachers but also encouraging a strong reading culture among our pupils,” he said.
Teachers and education stakeholders in the constituency welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention and a major boost to the educational sector in the area.
